Real Radio renews Visit Scotland feature

Real Radio Scotland’s ‘Ewen and Cat’s Guide to Scotland’ with Visit Scotland is returning for another year.

The breakfast presenters and reporter Shiona McCallum are gearing up for more adventures this year, travelling the country trying out the best of what’s on offer.

In this series, destinations like the Orkney Islands are on the agenda for the feature which goes out each Saturday between 12 noon and 1pm.

Cat Harvey said; “This has to be my dream job traveling around the best small country in the world. We’ll be exploring the stunning islands, vibrant cities and everything in between with sunglasses, waterproofs and a sense of humour.

“On this show we’ll keep our listeners up to date with forthcoming events throughout Scotland as well as checking out various holiday options and scoffing magnificent grub on our adventures. It’s a tough job but somebody has to do it!”

Ewen Cameron echoed those thoughts, saying; “Watch out, we’re back in action and exploring all corners of Scotland. My family and I are excited to be going on even more trips and I’m counting down the minutes and hours until our next adventure.”

Each week the pair will task reporter Shiona to a challenge of their choice. Last series they had her on the longest zip wire in Scotland in Dumfries and Galloway, staying in bespoke cottages along the Caledonian Canal and champagne tasting in St. Andrews.

Shiona McCallum said; “Like many of us I’ve been all over the world, but have not seen enough of what’s on my doorstep and I really cannot wait to see even more.

“People can get in touch if there’s anything they think I should go and visit when I’m embarking on my travels, and definitely say hello! I’m on Twitter @shionamc for all the updates or on Instagram @shionapics sharing photographs of my journey. We would love people to share pictures of their journeys across Scotland with us using the hashtag #brilliantmoments.”

Malcolm Roughead, Chief Executive of VisitScotland said; “We’re delighted to have teamed up with Real Radio Scotland to help people explore the country. Ewen, Cat and Shiona are the perfect guides for this audio journey and we hope their experiences inspire listeners to leave behind the comforts of home and discover more about all the amazing things to see and do in Scotland, particularly during this Year of Homecoming.”
