Rod McKenzie moved to BBC local radio job

Newsbeat’s former editor Rod McKenzie is moving from BBC Radio 1 to a new job as development editor of BBC local radio.

An email to staff from David Holdsworth, Controller of English Regions, said: “Rod is looking for a new career direction after recent events at Newsbeat. He will bring loads of experience and wisdom to the job at a time when we are keen to further sharpen our production and journalism. I am sure you will make Rod welcome and I know he intends to get round some stations as soon as possible.”

The Guardian reports Rod was moved from his job after complaints from more than 30 people about his alleged bullying management style. He denied any wrongdoing in the inquiry which lasted a year.
