The deadline for entering the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards is almost here – you have until 6pm Friday 7th March for submissions.
The annual event, which recognises the best of commercial radio in the UK, has opened up entry criteria to non-members of RadioCentre this year. However, not all groups are taking part.
UTV, which runs 13 local radio stations and one national station, says it isn’t making any submissions again this year. Scott Taunton, Managing Director of UTV Radio GB tells RadioToday: “UTV has welcomed RadioCentre’s recent efforts to build bridges with non-members under the interim leadership of Linda Smith.
“Although we won’t be participating in this year’s Arqivas, I’m looking forward to having further dialogue with RadioCentre’s new CEO about our future participation in industry initiatives. On a personal note I’d also like to wish Linda well as she hands over the reins as CEO.”
UKRD, which runs 17 local commercial radio stations is also not taking part. CEO William Rogers tells RadioToday they have no interest in taking part after quitting RadioCentre in 2009.
