Students can win Absolute Radio 90s show
Absolute Radio is giving the winner of the Best Student Radio Presenter at Demo Factor their own show on Absolute Radio 90s at the National Student Radio Conference.
Presenter Vicki Blight, along with Absolute Radio’s Head of Presentation Paul Sylvester will both be judges at the event, along with BBC Radio 1’s Jocelin Stainer, Global’s Rob Watson and Chris North from North Media Talent.
Demo Factor is taking place on Monday at the National Student Radio Conference, the annual conference for the Student Radio Association that brings together over five hundreds students and industry experts to support and develop student radio stations across the country.
Demo Factor gives the students a chance to get their demo heard and have live feedback from a panel of industry professionals and fellow students in the audience.
Vicki tells RadioToday: “Ok, so it might be a bit scary to have your work critiqued in front of your mates, but it’s not as bad as some people think. Yes, it’s honest but that’s what people need. Surely it’s also worth the risk, it could be the moment where your career really takes off.
“There’s also an added bonus this year, one of the people whose demo we hear will get a one-off show on Absolute Radio 90s, broadcasting across the UK. It’s your chance to get experience on national radio, taking on board all of the feedback you’ve had and create a brand new ‘real’ demo. Paul and I will be on hand to help you make the show and Dale Wetter (who was on Demo Factor three years ago) used his show on Absolute Radio 90s to get a show on UTV.”
Students can upload their demo at demofactor.com and also learn more about the panel of experts as well as host Adam Catterall. For more information on the SRA and the events and sessions happening at the National Student Radio Conference then head to studentradio.org.uk
RadioToday will be covering the event via RadioTodayLive.com, sponsored by Arqiva.
