Two 6 Music shows for Charles Hazlewood

Conductor Charles Hazlewood is joining BBC Radio 6 Music this May with two shows called Charles Hazlewood’s Musical Exploriums.

Across two shows, Charles will be joined by special guests Will Gregory from Goldfrapp, guitarist Adrian Utley from Portishead, and king of electronic dance music, Squarepusher. They will be aided and abetted by Charles’s orchestra and Gregory’s Moog ensemble, creating altered worlds for JS Bach and Purcell.

Charles Hazlewood says: “BBC Radio 6 Music is the home for sonic adventurers. I’m a sonic tour guide with enough passion to rocket around the musical cosmos. I can’t wait to take 6 Music listeners on this journey.”

The theme of programme one is ‘There is nothing new under the sun’ on Sunday 11 May, 1-2pm whilst the theme of programme two is ‘Bass’ a week later.

Charles recently sat in for Stuart Maconie on The Freak Zone on BBC Radio 6 Music in which he played some of his favourite left-field music. And for several years he has been an occasional presenter on BBC Radio 2. His most recent series for the network was 2012’s Made In Britain, a personal journey around Britain in which he uncovered the music that has shaped who we are today.
