UKRD launches Future Leaders Programme

UKRD Group has launched its own internal training programme for potential Managing Directors called the “Future Leaders Programme.”

Every year, starting this year, three middle managers at station or group level within the organisation will be selected by a panel to join what UKRD’s Chief Executive Officer, William Rogers, has described as ‘the most comprehensive programme of development and training for budding Managing Directors anywhere within the sector.’

“The Future Leaders Programme involves a twenty day commitment from each individual and stretches out across a year-long programme of activity, including both external and internal modules,” said Rogers.

“This is a significant investment of time and money and reflects both our determination to develop our people as well as resolve what is becoming an increasingly obvious crisis for the sector in terms of supply and choice as the industry continues to consolidate and contract.

“There’s no doubt that as the sector reduces its employment levels and things become more centralised, the desire for automatons is growing and the need for genuine managers, like our organisation requires, is reducing. We’ve therefore clearly got to source and grow our own talent.”

The three selected for this year’s programme are Tim Watson from Yorkshire Coast Radio, Andy Amesbury from 2BR/The Bee and Tristan Hunkin from Pirate FM.
