Celador gets two Breeze licences shortened

Ofcom has invited applications to apply for the FM local commercial radio licence for Weston-super-Mare.

The full re-advertisement of this licence is taking place after current licensee Celador requested the shortening of the licence. It now expires on 21 July 2015, and the proposed expiry date following the award of the new licence will be 31 July 2027.

Celador operates The Breeze on 107.7FM on 100W from Worlebury Hill but applicants are free to propose alternative transmission sites. Ofcom says this licence has been shortened at the request of the licensee.

The closing date for applications is 3pm on Tuesday 21 October 2014 with a non refundable fee of £5,000.

Celador has also requested to shorten the licence it holds in Portsmouth as well, meaning that will be re-advertised in September 2014.

Also today, Ofcom has invited declarations of intent to apply for FM local commercial radio licences in London, Great Yarmouth, Maidstone and North Norfolk.

Current licensees are Sunrise Radio (London, AM), The Beach (Great Yarmouth, FM), KMFM (Maidstone, FM) and North Norfolk Radio on FM. Declarations are accompanied by a cash deposit and let Ofcom know if there is expected to be competition for a licence, or if it can use the ‘fast track’ procedure to re-licence the current licensee.
