Asian Sound Radio extends to Yorkshire

East Lancashire’s radio service Asian Sound Radio is joining the Bradford & Huddersfield DAB multiplex from next month.
The station has received Ofcom approval after a multiplex variation request was made last month. Asian Sound Radio joins Panjabi, Sunrise and Paigham Radio on the multiplex which is also home to BBC Radio Leeds, heat, Pulse 1 and Pulse 2.
Asian Sound Radio will now offer: “A locally-oriented music and information service for Asian listeners in East Lancashire and West Yorkshire, with a mix of music. At least a third of the output is in Urdu and Hindi, and the Gujerati and Bengali speaking communities are catered for.”
The station, which launched in 1996, broadcasts on 963 and 1377 AM across East Lancashire and Northern parts of Greater Manchester. The service planned for Bradford & Huddersfield may carry different advertisements.
