Bill Maynard is joining Market Harborough-based community radio station HFM.
The former BBC Radio Leicester presenter is taking up a new show, starting on Tuesday October 7th.
Bill is best known for his role as Greengrass in TV series Heartbeat and says he is looking forward to “bringing his unique style of music and chat to the airwaves”.
Programme Controller Chris Jones added: “We’re delighted to welcome Bill to HFM. He is a very charismatic local character with lots of stories to share with our listeners. Bill will be the ideal addition to the HFM family.”
