Orion Media sets up new video division

Midlands commercial radio group Orion Media has launched an in-house video company, producing content for external clients including Vauxhall and Monarch Airlines.

Orion, which operates the four Free Radio stations as well as Free Radio 80s and Gem 106, has been shortlisted for two industry awards for the venture already – the Roses Creative Awards and the Royal Television Society Awards 2014.

The group says its video production arm was created in response to a ‘growing demand from new clients specifically wanting high quality video content and digital production, and evolved from the video work Orion Media’s specialist staff were increasingly undertaking for their clients as part of the radio group’s sponsorship and promotions offering’.

Adrian Serle, Group Commercial Director, told RadioToday: “This started with us providing customers with a much broader access to our consumer base, across multiple platforms. As a result of that, the market demand for creative solutions including video, brand integration, content creation, digital design, app creation and so on, has enabled us to invest heavily, in terms of resources and people, thus creating Orion Productions.

“The fact we are now being nominated for awards for this work is testament to a brilliant team that has the appetite and flair to make this happen. The team, which has expanded to seven, continue to work closely with our existing customers, but the creation of Orion Productions has taken them into new markets.”
