Former and current Radio City staff celebrate

.

Radio City turned 40 years old last week, and on Friday night previous staff teamed up with current employees for a celebration of radio in Merseyside.
Part of the event in Liverpool City Centre included the creation of this video featuring music and video highlights of the station over the last 40 years. Station founder Terry Smith addressed an invited audience including Pete Waterman, Gillian Reynolds and Dave Lincoln.
The station launched on 21 October 1974 with an announcement by Managing Director Terry Smith. The first words were “It’s two minutes to six on Monday October 21st 1974. For the very first time, this is 194 Radio City broadcasting to Merseyside.”
