Trash Can Radio plans local DAB launch

A South-London based group called Trash Can Radio is expected to launch on DAB in the London area soon.

The station has a launch countdown on its website saying it is launching on Sunday 12th October.

Ofcom has just awarded the station a Digital Sound Programme Service licence to feature programmes consisting of a broad range of music from the past 60 years with varied speech content. Programmes will typically carry 90% music and 10% speech.

The station says: “Trash Can Radio is about to shake up the airwaves of South London to bring you the best in trashy Rock’n’Roll, Old School Rhythm & Blues, Punk, Ska, Rockabilly, 60s Garage punk and all other kinds of pure trash music.

“Imagine being starved like the kids and people of the 60’s were for good music denied them by what was only available then and relieved when the first pirate radio stations set sail to fill the gap. That’s Trash Can Radio for you now.”
