Star Radio rebrands with a real jingle package

Cambridge and Ely’s Star Radio has a new sound today with resings of the Real Radio 2011 jingle package and two new VOs.

The new sound comes after Simon Nicks joined the UKRD station as Programme Controller from Wire FM Warrington, where he hosted Nicksy in the Morning. Simon has previously worked at Galaxy, BRMB, Metro and Atlantic 252.

The cuts are from Ignite Jingles, where owner Chris Stevens says: “We’ve really enjoyed working with Simon and his team for the new sound of Star Radio. The Real Radio package fits perfectly with Star’s name and feel-good sound, and we’re delighted that they’re on air across Cambridge and Ely.”

The new voice-overs are Mark Chadwick on station IDs, and Emma Vane on sponsor credits.

Simon told RadioToday: “I am very familiar with this package, as it was originally written for Real Radio, and has an outstanding number of cuts and work parts. When Chris told me it was available, nothing else came close. Also, there is no one better than Chris to have working on a project like this, as he loves it all just as much as I do, and can even cope with me calling up asking for many resings!”

Star Radio is also adding new programmes to its schedule, with a new weekday evening show and specialist music on the weekend including soul, rock, blues and country.

Simon added: “To say I’m excited is an understatement – I have the best job in the world, and am lucky to be working for a company where creativity is encouraged and flourishes!”
