UKRD's first future radio leaders graduate

UKRD has celebrated the graduation of its first three “Future Leaders Programme” graduates at a private graduation dinner in London.

The evening was held at the five star Landmark Hotel in the presence of its board of directors, senior executives and station managing directors.

The Black Tie dinner saw the three, Andy Amesbury from 2BR/The Bee, Tristan Hunkin from Pirate FM and Tim Watson from Yorkshire Coast Radio, commended and recognised for a year-long effort in which each spent the last twelve months undergoing a set of modules and courses covering 25 working days in all and spread across 2014.

The programme, established in January of this year, is the groups’ people development initiative, which is intended to provide the company with a group of future leaders who can step up into various management posts within the company.

Chief Executive Officer, William Rogers, commended all three for their “superb levels of commitment and hard work,” and said that the programme had “clearly made a big difference to those who had taken part as well as being of significant benefit to the business more widely.”

“As the industry continues to contract and, sadly, such contraction and consolidation results in fewer people being about and even fewer coming in to the sector more generally, we need to be doing all we can to identify great people, develop them and ensure that they have future opportunities to grow and develop as our business develops.

“The Future Leaders Programme is a great example of our commitment to the future of our business and Andy, Tristan and Tim have all shown themselves to be more than worthy graduates of this, our first such programme,” he said.
