Magic’s national launch this week saw a new partnership between the station and two independent production companies formed to deliver new programmes and imaging.
The Bauer station is working with Wise Buddah – who have also created a new ID jingle package for the station, and USP Content for programme content, and more shows are expected to be available to pitch for during 2015.
Wise Buddah’s new jingle package comprises 12 bespoke pieces, including new cuts for Magic In The Morning and Mellow Magic. The new identity has been designed around a 5 note sonic which signifies the new Magic brand as a national service across all media platforms.
The package was recorded by a live orchestra arranged by Cliff Masterson who’s worked with the likes of Emeli Sandé, Kylie Minogue and Susan Boyle. It forms the first half of a brand new sound for Magic, which will be completed in 2015.
The first three shows being produced externally are hosted by Christine Bleakley, John Barrowman and Claire Sweeney who are set to broadcast alongside Magic in-house productions Denise Van Outen, Rick Astley and Kim Wilde.
Liam Thompson, Content Director at Magic said “It’s fantastic to have Wise Buddah and USP Content on board to help us hit the ground running for 2015. The move to work alongside independent production companies in conjunction with the strong in-house Magic team underpins our big ambitions for the national Magic brand and our desire to create new sponsorship opportunities for brand partners.”
Wise Buddah will also be producing Christine Bleakley and John Barrowman’s new show on Magic.
Christine will make her radio debut with a one-hour programme dedicated to a special celebrity guest each week. Phillip Schofield joins as the first guest from 11th January with new guests every Sunday afternoon from 3-4pm until March.
Meanwhile the star of Doctor Who and Torchwood will kick off his new programme on 11th January and will be heard every Sunday from 6pm.
USP Content are working with Claire Sweeney on a special musicals show. Amidst an illustrious career on stage and TV, Sweeney most notably starred as ‘Roxie Hart’ in the musical Chicago. She will review, interview stars and cast members and recommend the very best performances in the West End as well as playing a mix of Magic tracks and musical hits on Sunday afternoon from 3-4pm in March and April.
