Radio listener names official Real XS ale

106.1 Real XS has brewed its own ale and will be the official festival ale at the Manchester Beer and Cider Festival this week.

The Communicorp UK station gave its listeners the opportunity to name the ale and the winning entry was ‘Motley Brew’ from Gareth Brazendale from Northwich, who also won a VIP entry package to the festival.

Brewed by BlackEdge Brewery in Horwich, the recipe for the 4% golden session ale was inspired by the recent commemoration of 100 years since the Great War and combines hops from Britain and Germany, giving a pleasant lemon citrus flavour with a hint of blackcurrant & spice.

Matt White, Real XS Programme Manager, told RadioToday: “Rock and Roll has a rich history and association with booze; Motorhead make their own rosé, Iron Maiden has a beer and Queen launched their own vodka last year. Now, thanks to Blackedge Brewery, we have our own ale and we shall, of course, all be drinking it – responsibly!”
