UTV Media GB is up for sale, according to a speculative report in the Media Guardian today.
UTV has no comment to make on the rumour, and there are no more details other than a list of potential buyers, which includes Bauer, Orion and UKRD.
But the UK’s newest radio group, Communicorp UK, is keen to grow, and RadioToday understands talks have already taken place about the potential sale.
UTV Radio GB operates talkSPORT plus 13 independent local radio stations in England and Wales as well as a number of digital radio multiplexes. It is thought talkSPORT is not for sale at this time.
UTV has confirmed it is currently assessing the options for its UK independent local radio stations which “may or may not lead to the disposal of some or all of these stations”.
The company also confirms a further announcement will be made in due course, as appropriate.
