Heart presenter becomes Hospice Patron

Heart Essex presenter Su Harrison has become a Patron of local charity Havens Hospices.

The Heart Breakfast co-host, one half of Martin and Su, has long supported her local hospices, raising over £5,000 for them in 2014 by running the London Marathon as part of ‘Team Havens’.

On Tuesday 27th January she visited the charity’s Day Care and Inpatient Unit at Fair Havens Hospice for adults in Westcliff to meet staff and patients.

Su said: “I am honoured to have been asked to represent my local hospices as a Patron. It was lovely to meet some of the people they care for and hear how much the support of the hospice means to them. The care team do such wonderful work.

“I was delighted to hear the news that planning permission for a new Fair Havens Hospice has been granted and after seeing the current hospice for myself I can see how desperately it is needed. As my local hospice I will support them in any way I can, and I would encourage everybody else to do the same, you never know when you may need their help.”

Havens Hospices Head of In Patient Services, Catherine Wood, said; “It’s fantastic to have Su on board as one of Havens Hospices’ Patrons. As a radio presenter she is naturally very chatty which is what our patients need sometimes – just a chat. We look forward to welcoming her back to both Fair Havens and Little Havens again soon.”
