Chris Evans has won the TRIC award for Digital Radio Personality, beating BBC colleagues Fearne Cotton and Nicky Campbell to the title.
The Television and Radio Industries Club awards ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London today (Tuesday), has just one other radio award out of the 16, looking for the best Digital Radio Programme which was won by Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon.
Capital Breakfast with Dave and Lisa, broadcast on Global’s London station, beat 5 Live Breakfast and The Chris Evans Breakfast Show.
On winning the award, Dave Berry said: “It’s an honour to win this award again! I’m going to carry it around with me wherever I go!”
Chris Evans couldn’t be at the awards to pick up his gong, but tweeted this message: “My apologies for not being at the marvellous TRIC awards to accept one of their treasured gongs but the school run calls. Noah, Eli and I will of course hold our own secret celebration with a Creme Egg each en route back home but lease don’t tell Mum who’s been slaving away making the tea all afternoon. TRIC deserve an award themselves for consistently holding one of, if not the, most respected telly and wireless award ceremonies in the UK today. Hats off to all !.”
