Sanjiv Buttoo has been appointed as Managing Editor of BBC Radio York.
He’s been acting in the role for the past year but today the BBC announce he’ll be staying in the job a bit more permanently.
Sanjiv started working for BBC local radio 25 years ago as a producer and presenter with Radio Leeds and stations in the North West before being appointed North of England reporter for the BBC Asian Network. During his career he has produced documentaries with the BBC investigations unit, and has lived and worked in south Asia and the Middle East for World Service reporting on political upheaval, terrorism and natural disasters such as the south Asian Tsunami.
He came back to work in local radio in 2012 as assistant Editor with BBC Radio Lancashire before being appointed Editor at BBC Radio York.
Sanjiv says “I am thrilled and feel very privileged to be leading a team of talented journalists, creative producers and presenters covering life in North Yorkshire, England largest county. I was born and brought up in Yorkshire and it’s great to be back working here.”
