Broadcast Bionics take the Bionic Van on tour

A radio company is going on tour with a van packed full of equipment and new products, stopping at seven locations around the UK.

“The Bionic Van – Radio Technology on tour” will stop at Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, London and a yet to be announced location in Ireland.

The van is a mobile studio, similar to the one used at the last Radio Festival for Challenge Radio in 2014 used by Ken Bruce and many more presenters.

Kirsten Smith from Bionics told RadioToday: “Whether you’re an engineer looking for AES67 compatible products, a producer interested new ways of finding and sharing show content through social media (even video), or a head of music thinking about a fresh approach to rotations, we have some great attention-grabbing products on board to inspire. The tour is Broadcast Bionics creative idea to address the lack of a UK radio specific trade show – it’s somewhere for you to come and share your ideas with us and meet other like-minded professionals.”

Inside the van, you’ll find the new PhoneBOX4 software incorporating social media and visualisation systems, consoles from Lawo and Axia (new Fusion console), IP intercoms, and Omnia processors (new Omnia 7) through to playout, scheduling and logging software ready to play with.

Kirsten continued: “As you’d expect from a company with a reputation for cool ideas and nifty solutions, we’ll show you how all of these products work together to form the social studio. No social studio would be complete without hospitality- so we’ll even throw in a drink or two!”
