25 apply to run a radio station in Bradford

Ofcom has received 25 applications to run a short-term Restricted Service Licence in Bradford next month.

Only one of the 25, Ramzan FM, has been selected to run the service, aimed at covering Ramadan in June/July this year.

Ofcom also received six applications in Oldham, five in Huddersfield and four in Keighley but again Ofcom is only allowing one per area. Multiple applications were also submitted in Blackburn/Accrington, Leeds, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Stoke on Trent, Hounslow/Southall, Windsor/Slough, Greenwich/Romford and Carshalton/Thornton Heath.

The full list of successful applications from areas with multiple applications can be seen here.

The regulator opens a window each year for applications to run an RSL in the Ramadan period, which this year had a closing date of 23 January 2015.
