Tour De Yorkshire brings stations together

Two local radio stations teamed together at the weekend to bring coverage of Stage 2 of Tour De Yorkshire.

From 10am there were live updates aired on both Beverley FM and Vale Radio, with Chris Bell at the helm.

Then as the cyclists past through Norton, Oliver Stables mingling with the crowds, with the final hurdle in York and coverage by ex-BBC broadcaster William Jenkyns.

Chris Marsden Director of Vale Radio told RadioToday: “This is a first for us and a very exciting prospect. I remember when local radio used to team up with TV stations to promote each other’s service….no reason why one community can’t team together with another?”

Chris Bell, programming controller at Beverley FM quotes “Super excited about coupling up with Vale Radio, we know the guys there and this is just the beginning!”
