BBC Radio 2 lunchtime presenter Jeremy Vine is the first celebrity contestant to be confirmed for the brand new series of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Chris Evans made the announcement on his breakfast show this morning, where Jeremy confirmed the news he would be participating in the new series himself live in the studio.
“How could I say no to the biggest show in TV? Yes, yes, yes and yes again to the sequins and the Samba! Now I just need to find some dancing shoes and identify my left foot. I am doing it for my two young daughters who jumped behind the sofa when I told them! It seems Dad on Strictly is more scary than Doctor Who!” said Jeremy.
He’s not the first radio presenter to be on the TV series – last year Scott Mills was on the show along with Heart presenter Mark Wright. Previously, Jason Donovan and 5 Live football phone-in host Robbie Savage, along with Denise Van Outen.
In addition to radio, Jeremy also presents BBC One’s Points Of View on Sundays, as well as Eggheads on BBC Two.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One for its 13th series in September 2015
