Radio Production Awards return for 2015

Entries are now welcomed for this year’s Radio Production Awards, organised by the Radio Independents Group and supported by the Radio Academy.

For the last five years, the event has recognised the work of all kinds of programme makers and independent producers, with the exception of imaging and music producers.

Last year journalist and producer Gillian Reynolds picked up the Gold Award whilst Whistledown Productions were awarded Indie of the Year.

Production News is brought to you by BedsandBeats.com.

It’ll cost you £48 per entry if you’d like to be part of it, unless you’re a paid up RIG member, when the cost is £30.

The panel of judges from across the radio sector will consider the quality of a nominated person’s work across a range of programmes during the qualifying period from July 2014 to June 2015. Innovation and experimentation will also be taken into account.

There are 18 categories, including four new ones announced for this year, among which are ‘Best Nations and Regions Producer’ and ‘Presenter Hero Award’.

The event also hands out the “Indie of the Year” award along with the “Grassroots Production Award”, which will go to an “individual, production company, radio station or community based organisation that has shown extraordinary achievement in identifying, nurturing or mentoring new and diverse talent to the radio and audio industry.

Will Jackson, MD of RIG says: “The RPAs are the leading radio awards celebrating the work of producers and we’re looking forward to seeing a large amount of entries from those seeking to get recognition for their great work.”

The deadline for entries is September 24th and the winners will be announced on November 24th at the Hippodrome, Leicester Square, London.
