JACK fm changes name and raises £35k for charity
JACKfm recently changed its name for two days to Helen & Douglas FM to support Oxfordshire’s Hospice for children and young adults’, Helen & Douglas House.
Trev and Caroline from JACK’s Morning Glory broadcast from 6am – 6pm each day providing listeners with sad, happy, moving and amazing life stories of those who have been touched by their experiences at Helen & Douglas House.
Staff members from Helen & Douglas House shared why they are passionate about the work they do and what drives them to help young patients and their families.
Listeners were encouraged to ‘Dig Deep’ and donate what they could if they felt compelled to help. More than £35,000 was given across the two day broadcast. From children giving up their pocket money to business owners Digging Deep from their commercial coffers.
The coverage was backed-up with video content on the JACKfm Oxford Facebook page – resulting in many thousands of views and helping bring Dig Deep to an even greater audience.
Tim Parker, JACKfm Programming Director says “I was totally blown away by the generosity of JACKfm listeners! Across the two days we were all moved by the powerful stories of what happens day in, day out at Helen & Douglas House. We learnt that it costs over £5m to run Helen & Douglas House and only 12% of that is funded by the state. The rest has to come from donations – Clearly the people of Oxfordshire heard this message and were compelled to give. Thank you if you gave, but remember it’s not too late if you haven’t!”
