More local radio stations have joined in with UKRD’s plan to celebrate local radio on May 27th this year.
Nation Broadcasting will take part in the initiative, meaning stations such as Bridge FM and Swansea Bay Radio, will promote the work of local radio.
Group Managing Director, Martin Mumford, said “This is a great initiative to highlight the important, everyday role local radio stations play in their communities for listeners and local businesses. Nation Broadcasting is extremely proud of its market leading local stations in Wales and we look forward to celebrating and showcasing some of their work on Local Radio Day.”
“Interest in Local Radio Day is beginning to grow and we have received a number of enquiries from different operators over the last 24 hours,” said UKRD’s Chief Executive Officer, William Rogers, who announced the launch of Local Radio Day this week.
The group continues to receive additional endorsements from politicians and celebrities and that the website established to front the day and carry information about it is beginning to “fill up with great content and endorsements from all over the place,” said Rogers.
“Our own stations are using Local Radio Day as an opportunity to get out and about across their respective patches and deliver a day of community engagement that really does scream local, local, local,” he said. “It’s great that others are joining in the fun as well as the more serious side of driving home the message of the importance local radio has to local communities. Whatever they do, it all adds to the scale of activity being undertaken.”
