Two new radio stations playing 80s music will launch at an 80s festival this weekend in the North West.
Love 80s Radio Manchester and Love 80s Radio Liverpool will broadcast via DAB+ on Manchester and Liverpool multiplexes respectively, with the official launch of both at Rewind North in Cheshire.
The stations are part of the Dee Radio Group which also broadcast Chester’s Dee 106.3, Dee on DAB and Cheshire’s Silk 106.9.
Dee Radio Group Chief Executive, Chris Hurst said: “We love the 80s and have worked for a number of years with the Rewind guys. We’ve seen first-hand the love the massive number of festival goers have for the music of the 80s. The growing dominance of DAB radio has allowed us to expand our portfolio of stations into Manchester and Liverpool. The two Love 80s stations are completely separate and whilst they share much of the same music both of these Powerhouse Northern cities have their own unique 80s musical heritage and we have reflected their individual characters in their output.”
Love 80s Radio Manchester will be on the Niocast mini multiplex, where a local 80s station called MAX already broadcasts, whilst Love 80s Radio Liverpool has space on the Wrexham, Chester and Liverpool Muxco platform.
