Absolute Radio gets funny to raise money

Absolute Radio is putting on a live show at the London Palladium to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Bauer station will be putting on a night of comedy with Christian O’Connell hosting, and Al Murray (The Pub Landlord) Mark Watson, (Mock The Week, Have I Got News for You) Zoe Lyons (The Wright Stuff, Mock The Week) and Tom Allen (8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown), fresh from the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, set to perform.

OC said: “I wanted to do something to support the amazing work that Macmillan Cancer Support do. I have experienced the work they do and so many of my listeners have as well. I was so humbled and moved by the stories they have shared with us. One of the many awful things about cancer is it’s so hard to talk about it, it lurks in the shadows. I hope what we are trying to do, encouraging people to call the Macmillan support line or go online anonymously and speak to their dedicated specialists, changes that.”

Al Murray added: “When you hear about a thing like this you just have to get involved. I lost a friend earlier in the year to cancer and you realise that it affects so many people and families, not just the people suffering but the people around them. I’m honoured to perform on the night and help raise awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support as much as we can”
