Capital goes national on DAB Digital Radio

Global’s Capital has appeared on the Digital One multiplex as Capital UK, taking the London based hit music station truly national for the first time.

There’s no official news from Global at this time, but the station can now be heard across the UK on D1 at 80k in mono.

The additional of Capital nationally means DAB duplication of the FM/DAB service in the regions – South Coast, East Midlands, West Midlands, Manchester, Liverpool, Yorkshire, North East, South Wales, North Wales and Scotland. Plus numerous other areas it appears on DAB only such as Bristol, Cornwall and Wolverhampton.

The moves puts Global’s Capital in direct local completion with Communicorp stations using the brand.

Capital joins other Global brands Capital XTRA, Smooth Extra, Heart extra, LBC, Classic and Radio X on D1. The only Global station not on national DAB now is Gold.

Under Ofcom rules, any brand which is on a national DAB platform can request to network programmes 24/7 on any regional stations in its network in England. The Capital network currently includes two regional licences owned by Global – Yorkshire and North East.
