Fire interrupts talkRADIO & talkSPORT breakfast

A fire alarm went off at the studios of talkSPORT, Virgin Radio and talkRADIO this morning, interrupting normal programmes on two services.

On talkRADIO, the news sequence at 8am was interrupted mid-sentence, followed by a blank weather bed and half a sport bulletin. A podcast from Paul Ross then appeared until normal service resumed at 8.16am. Paul Ross explained to listeners how the fire alarm sounded and the fire brigade turned up.

on talkSPORT, a VO explaining the station is currently experiencing technical difficulties played just after 8, saying normal programmes will be resumed as soon as possible. Alan Brazil was back on-air by 8.23am and explained to listeners about a fire in the kitchen area of the building.

Liam Fisher, National Radio Controller for talkSPORT, talkSPORT 2, talkRADIO & Virgin Radio tweeted: “Prefer are (sic) output to be ‘on fire’ rather than the building itself but @talkSPORT @talkSPORT2 @talkRADIO @VirginRadioUK all on as usual.”

Programming continued as normal on Virgin Radio UK with Edith Bowman.

talkRADIO and talkSPORT broadcast from Hatfields in London SE1.
