The BBC Music Awards, taking place in London this year, will include Greg James live backstage and from the Red Carpet on Radio 1 from 4-7pm.
The event is moving from Birmingham to the ExCel, and live inserts will also be provided on the day during Steve Wright’s Big Show on BBC Radio 2 from 2-5pm.
It’s then back to Radio 2 from 8.30-10pm as Jo Whiley continues the programming from backstage, giving listeners a sneak peek behind the scenes whilst the Awards are broadcast on BBC One.
The show will be hosted by Fearne Cotton and Claudia Winkleman, and performers include Michael Bublé, Kaiser Chiefs, Lukas Graham, Zara Larsson, Emeli Sandé and The 1975, as announced on Radio 1 and Radio 2 breakfast today.
The BBC Music Awards 2016 will feature five awards: BBC Music British Artist of the Year as decided by the BBC Music committee, Song of the Year voted for by members of the public and BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year decided by the BBC Music Introducing panel.
This year there will be two new awards celebrating the best of live and recorded music − BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Performance of the Year voted for by the Radio 1 Playlist Committee and BBC Radio 2 Album of the Year voted for by the Radio 2 Playlist Committee.
The event is taking place on Monday 12th December 2016 at Excel London and tickets are on sale now.
