Former Capital/Galaxy Birmingham breakfast presenter Dan Kelly is taking over breakfast on Free Radio.
Dan is the current drive time host on the station and he’ll be joined by Free Radio network evening presenter, Naomi Kent.
They replace Foxy and Gemma who hosted their last show today.
Dan Kelly is well known in the city after spending 10 years as the host of the Capital Birmingham (formerly Galaxy) breakfast show. Naomi Kent has hosted breakfast shows in both Leeds and Leicester.
On his appointment Dan said: “I’ve been itching to get back to breakfast radio – waking up Birmingham is something I love doing and to have the opportunity again is so exciting.”
Naomi added: “Birmingham is an amazing city and to host the breakfast show on Free Radio really is a dream come true – to be able to share the experience with Dan is perfect. I can’t wait to get started!”
On his departure, Foxy said: “It’s been a brilliant 6 years hosting one of the biggest breakfast shows in the country, but I’ve used up all my good material (twice!), so I thought it was a good time to go off and try something new. My listeners across Birmingham have always made it feel like the best job in the world and it’s been an honour to wake them up each and every morning – I know they’ll be in safe hands with Dan & Naomi”
Mike Newman, Regional Content Director for Free Radio said: “I’m really pleased to make this announcement – both Dan & Naomi are huge talents and I know their chemistry is going to create a must-listen breakfast show for Birmingham. I’d like to thank Foxy for the last six years and all the best in your next venture.”
The new show launches on Monday, with Dan and Naomi joined by Bruno Mars, plus they will reveal the final two names on the bill for Free Radio Live 2016.
