BBC Radio 2 night time presenter Alex Lester has signed up for a weekly show on BBC Radio Kent.
He’ll be on-air each Sunday evening from 5pm till 9pm taking phone calls and playing music from the 50s to today.
Alex said: “I’m really looking forward to playing a wide selection of songs, some you won’t hear anywhere else, and of course reliving some great memories… or even the occasional heated discussion or two that only truly great songs and artists can generate.”
Gordon Davidson, Editor at BBC Radio Kent said: “Alex is a quality signing and he’ll playing everything from ABBA to Zappa with that infectious enthusiasm that spending a lot of your life in a sound proof box in the middle of the night gives you.”
As part of the changes veteran DJ Roger ‘Twiggy’ Day will be taking over the Saturday night retro countdown, from Saturday 4 February. Both changes follow the death of broadcaster Dave Cash late last year.
Alex Lester is leaving BBC Radio 2 at the end of this month after the station decided to cut live overnight programmes. Listen to our interview with him about leaving BBC Radio 2, below:
