TV host Owain Wyn Evans joins BBC Radio York

Owain Wyn Evans, BBC Look North’s television weather host, is joining BBC Radio York for the summer.

The Welsh presenter, who joined Look North in 2015, will front his own show on the station from Saturday 6 May, taking the helm of the 12-3pm slot. He takes over the current Match Day Live slot, which will return to the station when the next football season starts in August.

Owain’s show will feature summer events in North Yorkshire and ‘celebrate all that is great about the county’.

Owain said: “It’s a dream come true to have my own show and I can’t wait to get started on Radio York! It’s going to be great to get to know my listeners and there’ll be loads of giggles along the way. I can’t wait.”

Joe Pignatiello, Editor of BBC Radio York, added: “Owain is already a firm favourite with our listeners so it only seemed right to bring him on board. He’s passionate, hilarious and flamboyant – I think we’ll all have a lot of fun listening to his new show.”

Owain will continue to present the weather on Look North and Radio York.
