talkRADIO late night presenter Iain Lee is joining Wireless Group sister station Virgin Radio as part of a changes to its weekend schedules.
Iain will continue to host his weeknights show on talkRADIO in addition to taking over the 10am-1pm slot on Sundays – which was previously the Virgin Radio ‘takeover’ slot, with different guest presenters each week.
Iain has previously worked at stations including LBC, Absolute Radio and BBC Three Counties and joined Wireless Group for the launch of talkRADIO on DAB across the country last year.
He tells RadioToday: “Look out bland radio. As well as being the king of speech, I’m coming to take over music broadcasting as well.”
Other changes to the Virgin schedule see the arrival of DJ, record producer and TV presenter Eddy Temple Morris, who’ll do 4-7pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The Sunday afternoon slot has been hosted by Pulse 1’s Danny Mylo and Rosie Widdison since Virgin’s launch last year.
Sunday night’s Total Access show is replaced by an extended programme for Georgie Rogers, whose new music show Discovery, will now air 7-11pm. And Ben Jones will now do Saturday nights as well as Fridays when the changes take effect from 7th July. Saturday nights have previously been fronted by The Mac Twins.
Wireless Group’s Group Content Director of Music, Francis Currie said: “These new shows are presented by some of the UK’s best radio talent. The new lineup will strengthen Virgin Radio’s weekends and underline our commitment to classic tracks, new music and first class entertainment.”
Eddy Temple Morris said: “Virgin Radio has some of my favourite people in this noble genre, both in front of the mic and behind it. I’m buzzing to be joining such a high calibre team.”
