Gary Davies back on daily show with Radio 2

Former Radio 1 presenter Gary Davies has returned to daytime radio, with a week of cover on BBC Radio 2.

He’s filling in for Steve Wright all this week, following a couple of Friday nights earlier this year covering for Sara Cox on Radio 2’s Sounds of the 80s show.

This week sees Gary doing his first daytime BBC Radio shows since his departure from Radio 1 in 1993. He opened his first show yesterday with an old “Ooh Gary Davies” jingle followed by Relax by Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

Before Radio 1 he worked at Picadilly Radio in the late 70s and early 80s, and after leaving the BBC went on to work for Virgin Radio and Real Radio.

Listeners have been enjoying Gary’s return to the BBC’s airwaves so far…

Chris Moyles and the team (Dominic Byrne and Pippa with Comedy Dave brought back -peace made etc) would still be top Breakfast Show if they weren’t playing all Indie Rock but moved onto pop again.Great show on Radio X though anyway

Agreed. Moyle’s would be damn good on BBC R2. Great to hear Gary Davies this week though. Really enjoyable.

To be fair replacing Steve Wright with a pot plant would be a massive improvement so Gary Davies can’t fail can he?
