Andrew ‘Tommo’ Thomas leaves BBC Radio Cymru

.

BBC Radio Cymru afternoon presenter Tommo is leaving the station after four years.

He’s heading back to Nation Broadcasting to host the afternoon show across Radio Ceredigion, Radio Carmarthenshire, Radio Pembrokeshire and Bridge FM from April 16th.

Tommo’s last show on the BBC will be 2 till 5pm on March 29th. He says he’s enjoyed the time there and made lots of new friends but wants to return to his roots.

In a message on Facebook, he said: “At the end of last week, the latest listening figures for Radio Cymru were published, and I was so glad to see that the latest listening figures for my afternoon show were the highest they’ve been since I first joined BBC Radio Cymru in 2014. Thanks ever so much to all those who have been tuning in and who have supported me during that time.

“It’s good to know that the station’s listening figures are still improving, under the leadership of Editor Betsan Powys and her hardworking team. As I close the door on one chapter in my life, and open another, I wish BBC Radio Cymru all the best for the future, and also send my best wishes to whoever will take over as presenter of the afternoon slot on the station.”
