Ex-Emmerdale star joins Minster FM Breakfast
Actress Roxanne Pallett is joining UKRD station Minster FM from Monday to do the breakfast show alongside Ben Fry.
She’s best known for TV roles in Emmerdale, Waterloo Road and Casualty, as well as being a musical theatre star in The Wedding Singer and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. She’s also previously appeared as a contestant on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.
Roxanne replaces Ellie Brennan on Minister FM breakfast, who recently left the station to join Bauer’s Viking FM.
The new show will be called ‘Breakfast with Ben and Roxy’ – and was announced to listeners at Minster FM’s annual Local Hero Awards ceremony tonight (Friday) at York Racecourse.
Roxy says: “Russell Grant told me 2018 would bring great change and he was right. I fell in love with a Yorkshire lad and landed my dream job in radio with Minster FM who are already like a family to me, so the new year is looking very good so far!
“My new year’s wish for 2018 was to transcend from acting into broadcasting and it’s now come true. I had my sights set firmly on radio and Minster FM was the perfect fit for me as I absolutely love Yorkshire. The magic of going live in the studio each morning reaching thousands of listeners is so thrilling and will be an exciting new chapter for me. The early mornings are going to be tricky though! I may have to drive to work in my pyjamas on some mornings as I’m known for sleeping through my alarm, so hosting a breakfast show will likely be the challenge of my career. Coffee and chocolate will be essential!
“I can’t wait to start working with Ben. He’s a film geek like me so we instantly clicked. I think I may corrupt him with my junk food diet and outrageous stories though. It will be awesome to have a partner in crime in the studio, he’s a dream co-host. I’m so honoured to be waking North Yorkshire up and looking forward to sharing my mornings with everyone on the air.”
Minster FM Content Director David Green told RadioToday: “After another set of great RAJAR results we were determined to give our audience the breakfast show they deserved and when we met Roxy we knew we had a radio star in the making.”
