Promotion for staff at BMG Production Music
BMG Production Music, the production music business of Bertelsmann’s music division, BMG, has made a number of personnel changes and promotions.
John Clifford, in addition to his role as Managing Director, BMG Production Music UK, has been promoted to SVP, Global Sales, Marketing & Repertoire. John, who joined BMG Production Music in September 2017, is based in London and together with Geert-Willem Koolhof, Managing Director, BMG Production Music, will oversee BMGPM’s international business development and management.
John succeeds Mitch Lijewski, who will now return to his roots, continuing to work for BMG Production Music in a consultancy role focusing on the production of content for X-Ray Dog, the renowned trailer label BMG acquired from him in 2014.
Commenting on his appointment, John Clifford said: “I couldn’t be more excited and enthusiastic about joining BMG and stepping into this global role. BMG Production Music is one of the fastest growing companies in the space. By creating synergies between previously separate and now united companies we have the opportunity to create a new kind of production music company and do things differently to our competitors.
“Through a combination of exciting global expansion plans and label partnerships as well as substantial organic growth in all territories, we are committed to delivering over and above expectations. There is lots to be done but the future for BMG Production Music is very bright!”
In the US, Sinéad Hartmann has been promoted to SVP, BMG Production Music US. Hartmann previously served as VP, BMG Production Music US. In addition, Darrel Shirk has been elevated to VP, Operations, BMG Production Music US & Global. The two will jointly take over the management of BMG’s Production Music operation in the US from Lijewski.
In GSA and Benelux, Laura Bell has been promoted to Managing Director for Production Music in the region, with Paul Gulmans joining the international management team as VP, IT, Systems & Licensing. Both are based in Hilversum.
Also joining the international management team, Philipp Hintz has been appointed worldwide Finance Director for BMG Production Music. Hintz is based in Berlin.
They will all report directly to Geert-Willem Koolhof.
Geert-Willem said: “I’m really thrilled that John joined us and brings his 25 years of Production Music knowledge and experience to BMG John and I will work closely together to help define and implement the future business and creative direction for BMG Production Music globally.
“It’s a very exciting time for BMG Production Music, we are growing fast – and with all of the promotions announced we are confident that we have the right people in the right place and will together build on our success to date and create a Production Music company of the future!”
Just one year ago, BMG officially launched BMG Production Music, bridging together its interests in one-stop, pre-cleared and custom production music services including MusicDIRECTOR in the Benelux, Los Angeles-based Selectracks, Music Beyond and X-Ray Dog as well as London-based Beds & Beats and Altitude Music.
Initially founded with offices in Los Angeles, Nashville, London, Hilversum and Berlin, BMG Production Music began scaling up across Europe acquiring French independent AXS Music, forming the basis of BMG Production Music France, and providing entry into one of the largest European production music markets. Following this, BMG Production Music announced the major acquisition of Immediate Music, one of the leading U.S. independent production music teams in motion picture advertising and trailers; and sister company 1 Revolution Music, the television music catalog.
BMG Production Music has custom scoring studios in LA and London, global creative teams for music searching and project supervision, and an internationally curated catalog accessible online, consisting of around 400,000 tracks spanning all genres.
