Sports and news station Love Sport Radio has had its official launch this morning on digital radio and 558 MW across London.
The station was set up by former talkSPORT CEO Kelvin Mackenzie, and features presenters including Ian Stone, Kevin O’Sullivan, Brian Moore, Lembit Opik and Charlie Wolf.
Love Sport has also teamed up with podcasters to bring dedicated fan shows for some of the major London football clubs each evening.
Commercial Director Kurt Edwards tells us: “Never before has each London club had its own show on London radio, which will be a must-listen for hundreds of thousands of fans. Londoners want a change when it comes to sports radio and we are working hard to give them just that. New talent, new programming and dedicated fan shows while being unashamedly London.”
London Comedy Store host Ian Stone is on weekday breakfast, Ed Bowsher on midmornings, former Daily Mirror TV critic Kevin O’Sullivan on afternoons and ex-England rugby international Brian Moore on drivetime. The Weekend Breakfast show is with Iwan Thomas and former Crystal Palace player Paul Mortimer. Evening and weekend presenters include former MPs Lembit Opik and Jerry Hayes, and Atlantic 252 legend Charlie Wolf.
Kelvin Mackenzie was on air for an hour this morning (Monday) with Ed Bowsher, and is expected to make a weekly appearance on the station.
You can hear more about Love Sport and its plans on this week’s RadioToday Programme podcast, as we talk to Commercial Director Kurt Edwards. It’ll be out on Wednesday morning.
