Digital Radio pioneers wanted for Hall of Fame

Digital Radio UK is looking for looking for people to be part of the first ever Digital Radio Hall of Fame.

The UK is getting ready to mark the likely achievement of 50% digital listening which is expected to be confirmed on 17th May. This is a significant milestone and confirms that the way we listen to radio content has fundamentally changed.

To coincide with this landmark moment, stakeholders in the digital radio industry, along with readers of RadioToday, are invited to nominate thre names who could be potentially inducted into a Digital Radio Hall of Fame which will be announced at the Digital Radio Stakeholders’ Summer Meeting and Reception on 12 June at Bauer Media’s Camden offices.

DRUK is looking to recognise people who have made a significant contribution to changing the way we listen to the radio by introducing, developing and delivering any aspect of digital radio across all digital radio platforms.

Inductees should be people who have passionately believed in radio’s digital future and who helped make it happen. This could be the technology pioneers, the policymakers and the regulators, the device manufacturers, the vehicle manufacturers, the retailers, the multiplex operators, the broadcasters, the stations or the station groups,or the on-air presenters. Maybe even Editors of industry magazines which writes about digital radio (COUGH – Ed). In short anyone you believe deserves recognition for their outstanding contribution to the success of digital radio.

Once DRUK receives the nominations they will be reviewed by a group of eminent radio industry executives representing broadcasters, supply chain, policy makers and regulators. The judging panel includes: Dee Ford – Bauer Media, Helen Boaden – former-BBC, William Rogers – UKRD, Will Harding – Global, Jimmy Buckland – Wireless Group, Lindsey Mack – BBC, David Lloyd – Radio Historian, Bernie O’Neill – WorldDAB, Emma Hill – Radioworks, Peter Davies – former-Ofcom, and Sophie Spooner – Pure.

If you know of anyone who should be in there, send your three nominees in confidence to yvette.dore@digitalradiouk.com
