Honorary doctorate for presenter Janice Long

Janice Long is to be awarded an honorary doctorate for Music and Art by Edge Hill University.

This is alongside honorary degrees being awarded to Director of the final four Harry Potter films David Yates, Hillsborough campaigner Professor Phil Scraton and the CEO of Getty Images Dawn Airey.

Janice presents the BBC Radio Wales evening show Monday-Thursdays 7pm till 10pm as well as BBC Radio 2 docu-series A Long Walk With…”

Janice was the first woman to present a weekday show on BBC Radio 1 and says she is honoured to accept this doctorate: “I’m absolutely overwhelmed, humbled and incredibly privileged to be in such great company.”

Are you reading this Lewis Carnie! Such a smart move of yours dumping Janice and Alex from overnights on Radio 2 wasn’t it. At least somebody at Radio Wales appreciates the talent you could not see you were losing!

Hear Hear Neil and well deserved for Janet. As an extra bonus for me since she started, she’s knocked Chris (i’m the greatest radio presenter….ever!) Needs down to 3 hours.

Apologies for spelling your name wrong Neal 🙂

Sorry to disappoint you Neal, but Mr Carnie does not reply to people who make very sensible suggestions and offer constructive criticism. He and Mr Shennan know better and much prefer to turn Radio 2 into a station with an incoherent music policy, a scheduling crisis and a lack of engaging on-air talent.

A point well made Alan. It would have been feasible to leave it at “Mr Carnie does not reply”

A well deserved accolade, congratulations Janice!
