BBC radio presenter leaves show after Test and Trace alert

BBC Radio Cornwall presenter James Churchfield had to leave his radio show this morning following an alert from the NHS Test and Trace app to self-isolate.

James managed to present the first hour of his breakfast show from 6am, but by 7am Naomi Kennedy was standing in.

Just before the news at 7am James announced he was going to have to leave the show after being pinged by Track and Trace (sic) but he will be back.

A tweet from James just after 7am confirmed the change in presenters. He said: “Well it’s finally happened – have been pinged whilst on air with @BBCCornwall #Breakfast.

“Tweeting this from home and leaving you in the capable hands of @CornishKennedy.”

James has hosted breakfast for over 15 years after joining the station in 1995.
