BBC Radio Tees presenter Neil Green announced he’s hosted his final radio show during his programme on Wednesday morning.
Just before the news at 9am, he said it was time for him to go amidst all the changes happening across the local BBC radio network.
Neil said: “I care passionately about public service broadcasting and I wish all of my dedicated and hard working colleagues the very best.
“I’m lucky enough to have worked with some incredible people over the years and I just wanted to take the time to thank them and most importantly you for everything you’ve done to support me.”
He added that Amy Oakden will be hosting the show tomorrow morning.
Neil is the latest in a long list of presenters currently announcing their departure from long running shows at the BBC, as the bosses of local radio implement their Digital First strategy by taking money away from radio and putting it into online.
He started work at BBC Radio Cleveland in 2002 and went on to host full time programmes.
🎙️ After more than 28 years at BBC Radio Tees, @greenyfrom6am has announced that he's stepping away from the mic.
We're all going to miss you, Neil đź’ś
