Seventies pop TV special brings radio show to Channel 5

The syndicated radio show “The Greatest Hits Of Music” will make its television debut tonight with a special Seventies edition on Channel 5.

The one-off programme, titled “The Greatest Hits of 70s Pop”, will air from 11.30pm to 1am and feature music videos from some of the decade’s most popular acts.

It will include tracks by Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, The Buggles, The Crusaders, Ian Dury and The Blockheads, among others.

The show is presented by James Ross, who also hosts the radio version broadcast weekly by a range of UK and international stations including Sunshine Radio, Big City Radio, Forest FM and 121 Radio.

The TV version forms part of Channel 5’s Seventies season and will include original music videos spanning genres from prog rock and glam rock to disco.

James Ross said the new format adds a visual layer to the familiar tracks: “We’ll feature some of the best videos from the decade, some of which are rarely seen, and will bring a new dimension to the show.”

The show continues to be syndicated on more than 100 stations worldwide each week, but tonight’s programme is a specially produced visual edition aimed at both music fans and nostalgic viewers.
