Community radio stations will hear funding advice and storytelling training at the first CMA Summer Gathering in June.
The Community Media Association event takes place at Melton Borough Council in Melton Mowbray on Saturday 13th June 2026, in association with 103 The Eye.
The gathering runs from 9.30am to 5pm and is aimed at people working across community media, with speakers and networking planned during the day.
Valerie Geller will lead a workshop called ‘Transforming Community Storytelling’, created for the CMA Summer Gathering. Valerie is also the author of ‘Beyond Powerful Radio’, a book used by broadcasters, podcasters and digital media creators.
Mark Jones, who recently stepped down as Chair of the Community Radio Fund, is also due to speak.
Mark will share advice on what can make a stronger Community Radio Fund application, as well as where stations may be able to improve their chances when applying.
The CMA says Mark will not comment on individual bids, but his session will give practical guidance based on his time close to the decision making process.
More speakers are due to be announced ahead of the event.
