Border Media has announced it will take ownership of WLGR 93.5 FM, a radio station serving Glens Falls, Queensbury and the Lake George region in New York.
Border Media is owned by UK residents Ricki Lee and Hanna Kaleta, and the deal sees the couple return to the station they first owned in 2018.
At the time, they became the first European owners of an American radio station.
The acquisition comes as Border Media assumes the station from Sticks Media LLC, owned by Todd Nixon, in lieu of a promissory note. The move is intended to maintain continuity for both listeners and local advertisers.
Ricki Lee, chief executive officer of Border Media, said the transition is part of a financial restructuring but also an opportunity to invest in the station’s future. Ricki said the company aims to provide stability and a strong local media presence that connects with the community.
Todd Nixon, the outgoing owner, expressed confidence in the new management, stating that he believes the station is in good hands for its next phase.
The transaction is pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission. Border Media is based in New York and focuses on local broadcasting and audio technology innovation.
