Boom Radio has been shortlisted for a national business award after marking five years on air earlier this year.
The station is a finalist in the Dext Small Business of the Year category at the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards 2026.
Boom joins almost 200 finalists across 20 categories at the awards, which are headlined by Lloyds Bank, with ITV as media partner and support from the UK government.
Boom Radio Chief Executive Officer Phil Riley said the station had not previously entered a business event of this kind, having concentrated on developing the company since its launch.
“We’ve never entered anything like this before, preferring just to keep our heads down and grow the business,” Phil said.
“But as we just celebrated five years on air a few months ago we did think we should put our best foot forward for once, as we are immensely proud of what we as a team, and our listeners, have built with Boom Radio.”
He added that the station was created by “just a few old mates with a dream” and welcomed the judges’ recognition of the team’s work.
Lloyds Business and Commercial Banking Chief Executive Officer Amanda Murphy said the awards celebrate businesses built through ambition, determination and innovation.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Grosvenor House in London on Tuesday 10 November 2026, attended by around 1,200 business representatives.
