Sam Smith has announced on Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders a partnership with BBC Introducing to find ten emerging artists.
Those chosen will open for Sam’s UK residency shows in Manchester and London this September.
Artists can submit their music via the BBC Introducing Uploader from 29 July to 5 August, using the ‘Sam Smith’ tag for consideration.
A BBC Introducing panel will shortlist entries, with Sam selecting the final ten artists who will be announced later this summer.
Winners will perform at one of Sam’s residency shows and also be featured across BBC Introducing platforms.
The Manchester and London residencies follow the release of Sam’s new album, Hazel Eyes, in August, with two nights at Manchester’s Albert Hall and eight nights at London’s Coliseum.
Sam said being part of the initiative is exciting and highlighted the importance of the discovery process for both artists and audiences.
Lorna Clarke, Director of BBC Music, said the partnership reflects BBC Music’s commitment to supporting emerging artists and connecting audiences with established stars.
Kelly Betts, Editor of BBC Introducing, said the collaboration will give ten new artists a chance to open for Sam’s September shows and showcase the next generation of UK music.
The initiative is part of the BBC’s Summer of Music 2026, which will also feature exclusive performances and festival coverage.
